How do you edit images which arrive compressed by Mr. SID?

Are you able to batch process a whole mess of Mr. SID images?

The workaround I've been using - at least until something better is
known - is to open the Mr. SID image in a Global Mapper project
(projection defined), export a geotiff with world and prj files, opening
the tif in Photoshop and there be able to do just about any type of
editing barring a trim / crop, and then save (still in tif format). Of
course whatever initial advantage there had been afforded by
Lizardtech's unprecedented compression is lost.

Thanks for sharing any trade secrets.

Kelly
