Subject: [VGIS-LISTSERV] Bennington Downtown Area-Wide Plan Story Map Journal

Stone has built an interesting story map journal (http://goo.gl/0ww6Se ) as a way to provide interactive public access to the Bennington Downtown Area-Wide Plan. The plan was done by Stone and several partners working with the town, BRPC and other team members. The Story Map Journal provides information and analysis on environmental and market conditions that is intended to assist possible economic development partners identify the opportunities and challenges presented by conditions in the downtown area. The Journal also presents the visuals and text on the Town's vision for the redevelopment of a key cluster of parcels in the area as well as implementation steps that will assist the Town and its partners realize a transformation in the area. Mitigation of brownfield environmental conditions will be a big step toward reinvestment in the community and the encouragement of a more healthy and attractive downtown district.

Check it out if you have time. We would like feedback/comments/improvement ideas on this concept of providing more engaging access to typically dull reports.

Total effort to build this was about 20 hours, mainly because of the number of pages. We feel that 8-10 hours would be average time to build a decent Story Map Journal using the template and tools available on ArcGIS Online.
