Good Morning All,

Some of you may find this article on Mobile LiDAR for mapping street assets interesting. It is not anything new but it reminded me that we have many GIS users that have overlapping interests and I suspect if they all got together for a coordinated approach to data acquisition they would all benefit from reduced costs and high level of accuracy in mapping street assets such as signage, utility poles utility structures and other street 'furniture' so to speak. This would also eliminate a lot of risk to staff by avoiding weeks of exposure in high traffic areas collecting this data. Logical allies would be the water/sewer districts, MeDOT, public works, Turnpike Authority etc.

This is just the kind of thing the GeoLibrary can help facilitate.

Just some food for thought on this cloudy Tuesday morning!
