The e-mag is something I have subscribed to for a while. Amid the latest P/R releases and sales pitches it has some interesting articles once in a while.
I thought the introduction below presents an interesting perspective on GIS and the latest buzz about Amazon’s idea to use mini drones to deliver packages.

The consumerization of technologies that can be of significant benefit to the geospatial, remote sensing and geomatics industries took another major step forward recently with the announcement by Amazon that they are developing UAVs that will deliver shipments to customers.
I am sure many of you are thinking that this is not very likely, but it is not the specific application that you want to focus on, but rather the overall trend. From GPS to digital cameras and from LiDAR to UAVs if there is a consumer market for an emerging technology then those of us on the professional side are going to reap the benefits of well funded R&D programs.
