This year's series of workshops aimed at expanding your geospatial skills and knowledge will be held in Castine at Maine Maritime Academy on June 22. MEGUG's Annual Meeting is held as part of our Summer School program and at that time the membership will be electing five at-large board members. If you are interested in serving MEGUG as a board member, please submit a brief statement on why you would like to be on the board to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> before May 15. This information will be on the ballot and included in the registration packets. Feel free to contact any of the current board members<http://megug.org/organization-information/> to learn more about the time commitment and duties.

Please note that there have been two recent amendments to the MEGUG By-laws regarding Article 3, Membership and Article 5, Board of Directors. The changes are described below and were approved by the membership in November 2011.

Amendment #1
The first by-laws change was to Article 3, Membership and refined the procedure that the board uses to collect membership fees. The membership cycle will continue to be July 1st - June 30th but we have extended the time the board has to send renewal invoices from June 1st to July 31st. With this extended deadline for sending renewal invoices, we have also extended the amount of time our members have to pay their membership fee without loss of membership privileges from August 1st to September 1st.

Amendment #2
The second by-laws change was to Article 5, Board of Directors and changed the method used to select officers. The Board of Directors will continue to be comprised of nine (9) members that serve staggered two (2) year terms, however, officers will be elected at the next regular board meeting following the annual meeting and will serve a one (1) year term.
