The Maine Office of GIS and the Maine GeoLibrary Board are pleased to
present two more web mapping services (WMS) for public consumption. You
can see the full list, and instructions on how to use these services,
at:

http://www.maine.gov/geolib/wms.htm

These two new services are:

Bar Harbor 2004 B&W - this imagery collected May 1 2004 for Bar Harbor
provides 1-foot resolution for most of the town and 6" resolution for
the downtown area, in black-and-white imagery.

7.5' USGS Topo Quads B&W - this is a 1-bit representation of the
standard USGS topo maps. Only the black pixels on the map will display,
everything else is transparent. This is very useful for getting the
USGS feature names on your map.

These, and all the services, are available in ArcGIS layer files (.lyr)
and Google Earth KML files. There are also instructions on using WMS in
a variety of other software including MapInfo, gvSIG, QGIS, uDIG, and
Gaia.
