MEGIS is pleased to release an index layer for the lidar in Maine. This GIS layer shows where lidar data are available in Maine, the precise date of collection, the source (vendor) of the data, and some information regarding resolution/accuracy and products available. Think of it as spatially-enabled metadata for lidar.

The data can be downloaded from our data catalog www.maine.gov/megis<http://www.maine.gov/megis>, in the 'Elevation and Derived Products' section. For state employees, you can find it in our enterprise database (GISVIEW) under the name GISVIEW.MEGIS.Index_date_lidar.

Also to follow up from our previous announcement regarding hillshades, for state employees that is also now available in our GISRASTER SDE database (MEGIS.GISRASTER.MEDEM2SH_3X). Like the WMS, it is computed with a z-factor of 3. The default stretch that ArcMap applies (percent clip) is not very good for hillshade data, we recommend either standard deviation or min-max stretch.

Have a great weekend!
