Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to boost the signal on some ESRI app development. I don't know how many of you are familiar with ArcGIS Online and the associated Collector app for smart devices, but basically it's like Dropbox and ArcPad (ish) for GIS. If configured correctly, you can capture location and/or attribute data in the field with a mobile device and synchronize it to the your ArcGIS Online account in the cloud. You can then view the data in an ArcMap session or online through a browser.

Anyway, the Collector app will route you to a location if you're near pavement, but not "up in the woods". ESRI is about to release a new app called Navigator for ArcGIS. Here's the link for it: http://doc.arcgis.com/en/navigator/ There is also a video on the page worth watching.

However, neither Collector nor Navigator are designed for "off road" use. All we need is a distance and direction to a point. I've posted this to the ArcGIS Ideas page (https://c.na9.visual.force.com/apex/ideaHome?c=09a300000004xET ). It would be really helpful if folks here in Maine would "Promote" my idea so that the developers will consider adding this functionality.

A link to my idea is here: https://shar.es/1sJyUR

"Please consider adding the ability to load custom basemaps (tile packages), distance and bearing functionality, and the ability to add a searchable point feature layer from your AGO account to ArcGIS Navigator.

ArcGIS Online and Collector are fanta..."

Thanks everyone!
Lance
