You might find this link to the LiDAR Forum on LinkedIn interesting. It repeats a couple of articles I liked. One is to rasterize canopy height models and an alternative model of getting canopy heights.
Another is about finding old Roman roads in Britain and other archeological activities I have found it helpful identifying old roads in my home town that have grown up to trees long ago.
