With this years attendance numbers maybe you have the solution to your own
argument.

I think the regionals needs to be near the maximum amount of DI schools if a
neutral site is necessary. That probably makes somewhere in Michigan the
best solution for the west. Either Worcester or Providence for the east.

I also think the regionals should be at the same location for a set period
of time (2-3 years) so you can hook in the local audience better. The
success of the regionals is so dependent on the teams involved. The west
would have done better with Michigan involved and the east could have sold
out the Fleet Center with BC. The travel to the site is going to be
inconvenient for a good portion of the fans anyway, by getting a good
turnout from the locals is what makes or breaks the attendance. Albany
doesn't seem to do that well with it because only RPI, Union, Colgate &
UMASS are a short drive. Not exactly perenial tournament teams and only a
couple have good "travel fans". Worcester gets UNH, MC, Lowell, Harvard,
BU, BC, NU, Brown, PC just over an hour from campus. You can't beat that.
