There is some irony in the left shoe singing the tune the right (Wheeler via
Pound) once sang.

However, the Supreme Court has never appointed a president before - usurping
the role of Congress.  In this context, the conflicts of interest involving
Scalia, Thomas, and O'Connor are especially egregious.
