*Academic Advising and Student Support*

Please join us in welcoming Chip Curry <[log in to unmask]> to URock.
Chip is available along with URock Director, Deborah
Meehan<[log in to unmask]>,
for advising and registration, tutoring requests, special learning
accommodations and other services to support your student success.
Appointments can be made by calling the URock front office.

*Buying Your Fall Textbooks*

Most books for URock courses are available through the UMA
Bookstore<http://www.umabookstore.com/>website. Students can order by
phone or online.
*If you order your textbooks through the UMA bookstore by August 23*, *they
will be delivered to URock by August 29 and you only pay $2 in shipping
charges!*

*Upcoming Proctored Testing*

If you need to take an exam other than during its regularly scheduled time,
you will need to schedule your test through the URock front office. Our
normal hours are Tuesdays at 8AM or Thursdays at 4PM. A photo ID is
required and, in many cases, instructor permission. Sorry but Friday
testing is not available in the summer.

*Registration Continues for Fall Term*

Pre – registration continues for fall 2013 classes with no money or
financial aid due through August 14. You can still register after August 14
but some form of payment will be due. Use the Distance Learning Class

all types at URock. Remember to check your financial aid award offer in
Maine Street and adjust your credit hours based on your actual enrollment.
Otherwise, your aid will not post to your student account. For help with

*New Student Orientation*

New student orientations for entering fall students will be held at URock.
Students have the choice of Tuesday, August 27 at 9:30AM or Wednesday,
August 28 at 4:30PM. Please preregister by calling URock at 596-6906. New
students will hear tips from a panel of experienced students, sign up for a
library and student ID card, review technologies, meet staff and make new
friends. Attendance is highly recommended! As one new student said last
fall, “This was a great use of my time to get a lot of good information
very quickly.”

*Fall Math Boot Camp*

Five Town CSD Adult Education will be returning to URock this fall for
another round of *Math Boot Camp*. This is a fast paced and excellent math
refresher designed for those of you who wish to score into 100-level math
on the Accuplacer Placement Test. You must be willing to do weekly homework
and to take quizzes. There is no charge for the course but you must pay a
book fee of $25. Math Boot Camp will run Fridays, 9AM – Noon from September
13 through December 20. Interested students should email Deb

*Drop In Technology Support for Summer        Mondays Noon – 1:00PM*

Ask *any* of your technology questions at an informal drop in session in
the computer lab every Monday from noon to 1:00PM. No question is too small
or too big.  No need to register in advance.

*Special URock Hours the Week of August 26*

During the semester break the week of August 26, URock will be open at the
following times: Monday – Thursday 8AM – 5:30PM and Friday, 8AM to 4:00PM.
Please note that URock staff will be at UMA on the morning of Friday,
August 30 until 11AM. The office and the campus will be open but there will
be limited services before 11AM.

*Enjoy Our Picnic Tables by the Shore!*

If the rain ever stops, we urge you to enjoy the view and cool breezes down
at the shore at the URock picnic tables. There is a cigarette butt disposer
by the tables. Please put all other trash in the dumpster.

*File Your FAFSA!*

There is still time to file your 2013 – 2014
FAFSA<http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/>and receive aid for fall 2013 and
spring 2014. For help, visit with our

*URock Sweats and Tees*

We have just received a shipment of new URock sweatshirts, sweatpants,
T-shirts, long sleeved shirts and more. There’s lots of new colors and
