Career Information Sessions

Justice Studies Programs: Next Monday at 4:00PM

People interested in preparing for careers in law enforcement, detection and
forensics are invited to participate in an info session on Monday, June 21,
from 4:00-5:00 PM. The session will feature faculty from the Justice Studies
program at the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA). Offering the Bachelor
of Science, the Associate of Science and certificates, UMA’s Justice Studies
program prepares students for career opportunities in border patrol,
paralegal positions–public and private, probation–state and federal, and
risk management. “Justice Studies offers a variety of programs--a paralegal
certificate, an advocacy minor, a criminal justice concentration as well as
a community policing and a forensics certificate,” said Mary Louis Davitt,
Professor of Legal Technology. “All required courses are available at
University College at Rockland; many are available online. We believe that
while our online offerings challenge students and faculty, they also enhance
the academic and public discussion of important and timely topics throughout
the state.”

Information and Library Services Programs: June 28

Today’s library personnel are high-tech detectives, helping people sort
through oceans of information available in books, magazines and digital
records. For those interested in exploring careers in library services or in
other fields such as computer information systems, faculty of the University
of Maine at Augusta (UMA) Information and Library Services program will
present an overview of the program and discuss relevant careers. The
presentation will be held at University College on Monday, June 28, from
1:00-2:00 PM.

Logon for Printing

One of the upgrades to our computer system is that students and faculty will
have to logon on with ID and password when they send a printing job to a
URock computer. We are lucky in Rockland because students print FREE thanks
to the generous support of the URock Student Association. However, the
university will install this new logon system on URock computers as an
analysis tool. Remember to print responsibly.
