*Call by 4/5 for Your Free Ticket to Great Expectations in HD at the Strand*

The URock Student Association will sponsor a student ticket to see the HD
production of Great Expectations at the
Strand.<http://www.rocklandstrand.com/event/great-expectations-hd>Choose
a show at 1:00PM or 6:00PM on Tuesday, April 9. Please sign up for
your free ticket at the URock front desk by noon on Friday, April 5. You
may invite guests but they must purchase their tickets separately from the
Strand Box Office.

*Learn More about the BA in Social Science – April 16*

James Cook, UMA Associate Professor of Sociology will host an information
session and a Q & A about UMA’s unique academic program in Social
Science<http://www.uma.edu/social-science-specialization.html>on
Tuesday, April 16 at noon. Cook is also a passionate advocate for the
Social
Media Certificate <http://www.uma.edu/uma-social-media-certificate.html>.
Within Social Sciences students may also pursue concentrations in
Gerontology <http://www.uma.edu/gerontology-concentration.html> and
Psychology <http://www.uma.edu/psychology-concentration.html>. The social
sciences encompass multiple fields of scholarship, research and
professional preparation. Preregistration encouraged but not necessary.

*“Searching for Work”, a free workshop 4/17*

David Grima of the Department of Labor and the Maine Career Center will
deliver a *free* workshop called, “Searching for Work” on Wednesday, April
17 at 2:00PM in the URock computer lab. He will review how to locate
current job openings, understanding the hidden job market, getting an
“interim” job and creating a 21st century resume. This workshop is open to
all. Preregistration appreciated but not necessary.

*URock Welcomes Board of Trustee Rep Bonnie Newsom*

University of Maine System Board of Trustees representative, Bonnie Newsom,
has scheduled time to visit URock on Friday, April 19th in the morning.  No
special programming is planned but please welcome her and feel free to chat
with her during her visit. Ms Newsom is President of *Nutalket*–a Native
American owned and operated small business that blends archaeology and
heritage preservation consulting with Native American art and jewelry
design.

*URock Health Week – April 22 – 26*

URock will host its own “Health Week” April 22 – 26 from noon to 1:00PM,
featuring a different topic, presenter and *fabulous* door prize each day.
Here’s the lineup:

·        Monday, April 22 – URock student Michael Shunney will present *Tai
Chi*. (door prize = free class)

·        Tuesday, April 23 – Pen Bay hospital staffer Eileen Molloy will
present *Nutrition. *(door prize = basket of health foods from Rockland
Coop)

·        Wednesday, April 24 – Nick Brown will present *Exercise*. (door
prize = URock water bottle & T-shirt)

·        Thursday, April 25 – Faculty member Garrett Vail will present *Yoga
& Meditation. *(door prize = “1001 Pearls of Yoga Wisdom”, candle &
lavender eye pillow)

·        Friday, April 26 – *Free professional chair massages* offered from
10Am – 2PM. Must present a ticket from one of the other Healthy Week
presentations to qualify for a massage.                           *This
week’s activities are coordinated by Katie Thompson with support of the
URock SA.*

* URock Graduation Celebration Saturday, May 4 at 4:00PM*

URock’s local celebration of its 2013 graduates will be held Staurday, May
4 at 4:00PM. It is a way to celebrate with speeches, awards and gifts
amongst familiar friends, faculty and staff. We are honored that our
keynote speaker will be the *Chancellor of the University of Maine System,
James Page*. Graduates may bring up to three guests. Grads, please submit
photos and tribute messages to Dawn Rinehart <[log in to unmask]> for
inclusion in our 2013 slide show. Catered hors d’oeuvres by Maine Coast
Catering. RSVP’s appreciated.

*URock Boston Trip – May 18*

The URock Student Association is sponsoring a bus trip to Boston on
Saturday, May 18th, departing URock at 7:00AM.  Students will choose a
ticket for either the Museum of Science or the Museum of Fine Arts.
Students are free; guests will pay a small fee. This will be a full day of
fun and adventure! The bus will arrive back at URock at about 11:00PM.
Please watch bulletin boards for more information. Sign up is necessary!!

*Hitting the Wall?  Need Emotional Support?*

Laura French <[log in to unmask]>, a graduate intern in the MS
Counseling Program from USM, is offering free one-on-one personal
counseling to URock students.  If you are overwhelmed by stress and
mid-term crises, consider contacting her for free counseling.  She has
openings, particularly in the evenings.

*Leadership Conference for UMA Students*

Students are invited to the annual Leadership Conference on the UMA campus
on Saturday, April 20 from 9:00AM – 3:00PM. The keynote speaker will

*URock SA Elections*

Are you interested in being a student leader on the board of the Rockland
Student Association?  Nomination papers are hanging on Dagmar’s office
door. They are due back to the URock office by 5:00PM on March 29 with 15
URock student signatures in support of your nomination. Elections will be
held April 8 – 14 on Survey Monkey.

*Drop In technology Support – Thursdays from 12 noon – 1:30*

Ask *any* of your technology questions at an informal drop in session in
the computer lab every Thursday from noon to 1:30PM. No question is too
small or too big.  No need to register in advance.

fund courses for next summer, fall and spring 2014. The earlier you apply,
the more aid you may get. Don’t wait until your tax returns is filed.

Need help creating a thesis, citing a source, or punctuating a sentence?
The UMA Writing Center offers these and other tutoring services to distance
learners at UC by phone, email, and videochat. Work on campus or from home.

hours. Join a Google Hangout session with Writing Center Coordinator
Michelle Lisi, available by appointment every Friday this semester. Not
