Voting season is upon us.  I encourage you to be an informed voter.  All the
issues will impact the quality of your life. Your future deserves a well
informed vote.  Consider attending the following Candidate’s Forum.

Tuesday, October 19, 2010, the League of Women Voters, the Ellsworth
chapters of AAUW and BPW, the Ellsworth American, and the Ellsworth Chamber
of Commerce will sponsor a series of candidate forums for District Attorney,
House District 38, and Senate District 28.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Ellsworth City Hall
Auditorium.  Candidates for District Attorney will present from 6:30 to
7:15; House District 38 will present from 7:20 – 8:05 p.m.; candidates for
Senate District 28 will present from 8:10 – 9:00 p.m.  The forum will be
moderated by Ann Luther of the League of Women Voters of Maine.

   - Candidates will be asked to respond to the following three questions.

o    What are the main challenges the next state representative will face?
How would you address those challenges?

    - What remedies do you favor to address the current budget shortfall?
      Please be specific about what budget cuts you recommend or about what how
      you would propose to raise taxes.

o    What do you propose as a strategy for increasing clean energy in Maine
and how do you see the balance between economic development and
environmental protection?

   - Candidates will be presented with questions posed by the audience on
   index cards

·         Each candidate will be given two minutes to present a closing
statement.

·         The forum will be video recorded for rebroadcast on public access
television.
