Break occurred at 4:00pm this afternoon.  MFC is aware of the break and has
initiated their repair procedures.

Our optical path around far side of the northern ring has stayed up but
layer-2/3 connectivity did not switch over properly.  A configuration error
was found and once corrected Layer-2/3 came up across the far side of the
ring as designed.

Network connectivity to UMFK, UMPI, and multiple sites in Houlton were down
until roughly 4:45pm.

Both UMFK and UMPI were contacted shortly after the outage occurred.
(Houlton sites are closed today.)
