Hi all,

As some of you may have heard, Jerry Ellis recently passed away. Jerry was
a long-time director of the Onward program here at the University of Maine,
as well as the first president of the Maine Educational Opportunity
Association. Jerry was also a past-president of the New England Educational
Opportunity Association, and a past director of the NEOA Leadership
Institute (before it was renamed Arnold Mitchem Leadership Institute). I
have posted a link to Jerry's obituary on the MEEOA website on the Press
Room page (under Advocacy > Press Room). For your convenience, here is the
direct link:

I did not know Jerry as well as some other people in our TRIO community,
but I always enjoyed chatting with him at state and regional conferences.
He was kind and insightful and cared a great deal for the students and his
work. We miss him greatly.
