I got the chance to see UMaine hockey on TV last night for first time this year.
I will admit that I've been skeptical about the "Red Gendron era" as being an immediate tonic for what ails Maine. I am not going to get too wrapped up in one game, but I saw some very positive things. Most noticeable differences were how Maine no longer just dumps the puck in, they carry it so much more (yes!). The forecheck (at least the lead forechecker) is far more aggressive (and with a purpose). I also love that new line of Byron/Brown/ Morgan. Hutton has also improved a lot since last year. His 3x5 SHG was also an example of the condition he is in because he out sprinted the defenseman after having been killing penalties.
A lot to like based on what I saw. BC game next week will be a real test though.
