On the combined NCAA championship idea:

Men's lacrosse does something similar. They play on Memorial Day weekend,
so the Division I semifinals are on Saturday, the Division II and III
finals are on Sunday and the Division I final is on Monday. I haven't been,
so I don't know what attendance is like on the middle day. But it is set up
as a festival of lacrosse.

I think there was something similar done in basketball a few years ago as a
one-off. So in hockey, you could consider something with either the D-I
women, D-III men, or both.

The main concern with doing that in hockey would be whether the ice would
hold up after five games in three days. On the spectator side, you would
want to ensure that there are tickets available for the fans of the teams
in those championship games.
