I thought that the "depth" of Maine won both of their games at the Pond. In
several instances over the two game set Walsh freely substituted 2nd, 3rd
and 4th lines to go up against the power lines of both BC and UNH.

The BC game it made the difference in the 3rd period and overtime. Maine
still had a jump in their step and was winning the critical battles for the
puck. In a game where they were outplayed everywhere except the score board.

Again the UNH game Walsh had the same plan. I will bet that the Maine top
line didn't get 2/3 of the time the Krog line for UNH received. ESPN
flashed the stats in the 2nd period or early third and it was Krog 17
minutes to Kariya 12 minutes. Krogs shifts were much longer too!

Umile went to the whip on this line as he has done all year. It is not that
bad a strategy most of the time because you don't face a goalie as hot as
Michaud every night. It just seemed to me that Walsh just wanted it close
at the end and then he knew he could win. He wanted to play for overtime to
even things out. Despite his many detractors, the guy is a great coach.

Anyone out there think Umile would have pulled Conklin if the 3rd goal
counted? That seemed to wake him up. He was much sharper after that.
