Actually, I think some of the responses, while perfectly understandable,
were bordering on knee-jerk reactions. If any of us were writing for
*publication* (this is a discussion forum, which is different) we'd
probably have tempered things a bit.... stuff like "he believes" would
be "he appears to believe"... but I don't think the response was too
violent.

This may be a good idea -- you really never win a letter-war with
a newspaper -- after all, they can *always* get the last word if
they want.
