I agree with the above (and with most of what Deron has to say on this or
any other hockey related subject) but from the Canadian point of view this
game would be less interesting without the CIAU v NC$$ angle.  I wonder if
TSN would have chosen to cover what would have been in effect an NC$$ all
star game if the "pure" Canada v USA formula was used.  The CIAU really
made a point of trying to prove parity, which is part and parcel of the
lack of respect the quality of the CIAU game gets on *both* sides of the
border.  Except for the national "final four" in the CIAU no games are
covered nationally unlike major junior which has many games in all leagues
cablecast.  As was pointed out in the Canadian broadcast, there were
[about] six Memorial Cup winners on the CIAU team.
