About the only positive thing we can probably say about the RED is that at least they play in a conference where the majority of the other teams are facing the same re-start.  The two teams that would worry me are the Clarkson (with Casey - a great coach and recruiter) and Q-pac (they let anybody in) as they both played games this year and did not have the graduate losses and transfers that the suspended teams face.  (Yeah, I know that SLU and Toothpaste Tech also played, but neither of them should be scary.)  It will be interesting to see who, where and when the out of conference games end up being.  No way I would want the late Ivy start to be combined with a road trip to one of the NCHA big boys, which is where our OOC games sometimes fall.  Early November in Duluth or Denver could get ugly in a hurry with a young team and untested goaltenders.
But no matter what, hopefully a fully vaccinated campus will allow the Faithful to make their presence felt next fall.  But even that will never make up for that elusive third National Championship that I was hoping to see in person in Detroit last March.  It was really so close.  Sigh.

Subject: Re: contests    Hi All,     Thanks again to Mark for doing this and it is nice to see some lively chatter on the list again, even though one of the topics was a very sad one. Thanks to Mike in spite of the sadness, it was nice to hear about Red.    I wonder if anyone “in the know” (i.e. not from California) would like to discuss the possible effects on teams that sat out the season and suffered some important player transfer losses, like RPI. As you all know, we were having a nice season when the pandemic shut everything down and I wonder if it will be possible for the team to continue its upswing or do we start all over again at 11-23 seasons for a while.     Hope everyone is staying safe and continuing go ride out the pandemic with the usual precautions.    Lastly, I dont know who this guy Anthony Buffa is on Mark’s results, but I hereby disavow any connection with him especially in light of his lousy predictions. :-)    Cheers, Tony Buffa RPI ‘64
