With senior goaler Scott Stirling back in the Brown net for the first
time since a groin pill sidelined him at 10:56 of the first period in
the season opener at Meehan Auditorium on October 30th (Harvard
prevailed that night, 1-0, by virtue of the power play goal on which
Stirling injured himself while attempting to make the save), the
underdog Bears outplayed the surprised Crimson, 4-2, in the teams'
rematch at Bright Arena this evening to gain their first ECAC victory.

After a scoreless first period, Bear senior co-captain Tyler Garrow
scored on Crimson goaltender J. R. Prestfilippo out of a goalmouth
scramble at 9:07 of the middle stanza. Harvard matched the Brown score
on Scott Turco's shot from the slot that beat Stirling through a screen
at 15:35 and the Bears' Matt Kohansky pounced on a loose puck in the
crease to beat Prestifilippo at 19:05 of the period to give Brown a 2-1
lead after two.

The third period belonged to Brown as Greg Hayes fired a blazer from the
left point at 5:14 that Prestifilippo did not react to, and co-captain
Michael Bent tallied the prettiest goal of the night at the 10:00 mark
as he rifled a low, ice-level shot from fifteen feet out that caught the
right corner of the net between Prestifilippo's pad and the post. The
Crimson closed out the scoring when Brett Nowak's off-angle wrister beat
Stirling to the far right corner of the net at 19:18 after Harvard had
pulled Presifilippo at 18:59 in favor of a sixth attacker.

Both Brown and Harvard make the Capital District swing next weekend to
take on Union and Rensselaer.
