If the law were that simple, how would all the lawyers pay for their
______ (fill in the blank) :)

- I don't know if a "fan page" is a scholarly endeavor.

- There is a difference between using a logo as your logo and using a
logo as their logo. UNO may or may not care about that difference.

- The law doesn't necessarily make sense, especially if you ignore
  case-law.

- Their logo is *their* logo! They paid to create it.

- Their logo represents them. They want to make sure that the logo is
presented as representing them and not you and your pages.

- Their reputation is theirs and they wish to protect it. It's their
right to protect it with lousy pages (if that's the case).

- The law may require them to protect their interest in their logo.

- What's "the right thing"?

- Consider that they may not have much experience with the internet
(they may). Maybe you want to be treated as media and they want to
treat you as a fan or vendor.

- The "press releases" issue is a strange one! It looks like they want
to have press releases online, and so want to stop you from
"detracting" from the value of their web site. On the other hand, they
send those press releases out to any of the conventional media that
will take them ... begging for some exposure. Go figure.

All that said ..

$250 bucks!? It sounds like they want you to pay for (all of) their
web site :-)

Drop the puck!
