Replays have been used in the tournament for at least a couple years now
(if my hazy memory serves correctly).

For the BU-Mich game, the replay official was Greg Shepard, the WCHA's
supervisor of officials. He refs games during the regular season, and has
many year's worth of experience doing so.

I believe replays only come into account when requested by the on-ice
referree; the replay official cannot "call for" a penalty directly.
