Not to nit-pick... *BUT* ...

(yes, I know some people will roll there eyes for this reply, but
it's a pet pieve with me)

This is NOT meant to start or continue or even state an opinion on
whether it's better to have Canadians or only US players or only
people who are 3rd generation hockey players or whatever.

But Hockey East, like the WCHA, is made up of mostly US players.
It doesn't bother me that schools often have foreign players, but
it does tick me off when so many people always talk about "all those
Canadians in Hockey East."

The make-up of the schools in Hockey East, according to the rosters
displayed in the Hockey East playoff roster, are as follows:

        US non-US

BC 24 1
BU 23 3
Maine 17 12
UMass 20 7
Lowell 14 12
Merr 12 14
UNH 24 8
NU 18 10
Prov 22 4

That's 174 players from US hometowns and 71 non-US players.

Even Maine's national championship team had more players from
Mass than from Canada.

As far as reasons, I would have to state my strong opinion that it's
because Hockey East, like the WCHA, has an advantage in that H.E. has
Mass to get tons of players from while the WCHA has Minnesota to draw
from. Heck, to compare the ECAC and CCHA, Clarkson, St. Lawrence,
Lake Superior State, etc., to take local players, would by nature
wind up with a large number of Canadians.

I am NOT saying that it is better to have Mass players over players
from Ontario, just that Hockey East, by nature of its location, is
made up of mostly US players.

Thank you,
and I'll get off the nit-picking now.

screaming at the many people in general who repeatedly state this.
