Oops, sorry, subject should be Clarkson-Yale.

"Sullivan makes the save" was the most often repeated phrase of the
night as the Yale goalie singlehandedly beat the Clarkson Golden
Knights. Sullivan made 51 (many spectacular) saves as the Bulldogs
beat Clarkson, 4-2.

There was no score in the first period but Clarkson dominated play.
Clarkson again owned the 2nd period. The key was a power play for
Clarkson early in the second where the first 1:45 of the PP was
spent entirely in thye Yale zone. Sullivan made at least 6 or 7
awesome saves in the flurry. Yale took a 1-0 lead 12 minutes into
the second when Wiedenback scored for the Bulldogs. Champagne
for Yale scored his first collegiate goal in the third period
to make it 2-0 Yale. It is 7th consecutive game in which Clarkson
has trailed at least 2-0. Barbanti for the Bulldogs put a backhand
rebound past Clarkson goalie Jason Currie for a 3-0 lead. Yale
played well in the first half of the 3rd but Clarkson again dominated
the second part. Brian Mueller and Dave Seitz both hit crossbars for
Clarkson late in the game. With 4:20 left and Clarkson going on a powerplay,
the Knights pulled goalie Gregg Malicke (who replaced Currie a minute or
two earlier). Sullivan made 4 consecutvie saves right in a row off of
Marko Tuomainen, Craig Conroy and Jean-Francois Houle. Later, Yale cleared
the zone and scored into the empty net for a 4-0. The only question
was if Sullivan was going to get his well-deserved shutout and Houle
said "No." He smoked a Yale defenseman and beat Sullivan high with
1:21 left. Clarkson went on a 6-on-3 PP and Todd White scored his
first college goal off a rebound of a Chris deRuiter shot wwith
:30 left. But it was too little too late for the Golden Knights
who fall to 2-3-2.

Sullivan made 12 saves in the first, 17 in the second and 22!! in the third
for a game total of 51. Many of the saves were absolutely spectacular.

SCORING 1 2 3 =T
Clarkson 0 0 2 =2
Yale 0 1 3 =4

GOALIES
Sullivan, YU 53 shots-51 saves
Currie, CU 28 shots-25 saves
Malicke, CU 1 shot-1 save (I think)

THREE STARS
1) Todd Sullivan, YU (tough call here)
2) Craig Conroy, CU
3) Marko Tuomainen, CU

Conroy and Tuomainen both played well for the Knights but comapred
to Sullivan's perfromance, no one was even in his league for first
star.

Box tommorow.
