From this week's issue of Boston University Today, the weekly community
newspaper here at BU.

Hockey Armbands will honor two

"The Terriers will wear two black arm bands on the left sleeve of their game
jerseys this year. The initials CBJ will be on one band, in memory of former
eqipment manager Carl James, who died of cancer in July. On the other band the
initials KTM will be in memory of former defenseman Kevin J. Mutch ('81-'85)
who was fatally injured while walking across Route 28 on Cape Cod. Mutch's
uniform number, 11, will be alongside his initials.
In addition, Terrier coach Jack Parker and Boston College coach
Steve Cedorchuk have agreed that the Kevin T. Mutch Award will be presented to
the Most Valuable Player of the annual hockey series between BU and BC. The MVP
will come from the team with the better record in the season series, with that
team's coach selecting the winner. BU and BC meet four times this season:
at BU on 12/9 and 1/16/93, and at BC on 1/15/93. The two will also meet in
the opening round of the Beanpot Tourney on Feb. 1. Both teams could also meet
at the Badger Classic in Milwaukee on December, as well as in the post-season.
In the event of a tie, there will be co-recipients.
"It's appropriate that we now have an awrd to honor Kevin," says
Coach Parker. "He was a Terrier through and through." BU and BC first met
in the 1917-18 season. Since then, BU leads in the series 82-80, with 10 ties.
