don't get to read rec.sport.hockey.  Team USA is playing in the Tampere
Cup in Finland, which began yesterday.  They won their first game over
Tappara, 5-4, as the below states.  Hopefully we will see more from

TAMPERE CUP will be played for the third time now.
This year there are eight top-ranking teams including
Olympic teams from Canada and U.S., Soviet and Swedish
champions and strong domestic teams.
The teams play a simple series in two divisions (A and B)
during August 22 through 24. Ranging is determined by the
principle applied in the elimination round of the A pool
in World Championships. The finals will be played on Sunday,
August 25.
