Dave Smith writes that out BU, Providence and Clarkson, Clarkson has the
weakest reason for being in the NC$$ tourny. I agree that Clarkson played
lousy at times and lost some games that it shouldn't have. However, there
were several games that showed their ability. They did beat UNH at UNH in
November when UNH was on a 10-12 game winning streak. They also soundly
beat BC in their opening game. So beating two of the four Hockey East teams
that made it to Boston Garden probably helps to justify a birth (which would
have come any
way). It's hard (and pointless) to speculate what would have happened
without the 2 bids per league minimum.
