From the Minnesota Daily today in an article by Jess Myers:

Senior goalie Jeff Stolp, the WCHA's leader in wins and goals-against average,
will return to the Gopher lineup in time for this weekend's first-round
playoff series against North Dakota. Stolper has missed the last two weeks of
practice, and four starts due to a minor groin injury. Stolp is 24-6 with a
 2.87 GAA.

 FAMILIAR FACES IN FIRST ROUND

Along with Minnesota facing North Dakota two weekends in a row, the other
first-round WCHA playoff series feature teams that are very familiar with one
 another.

Second-place Wisconsin hosts St.Cloud State for the second consecutive
weekend. The Badgers swept SCSU, 5-4 and 6-2.

Northern Michigan, which finished third hosts arch-rival Michigan
 Technological University in Marquette, Mich.

Surprise fourth-place finisher Colorado College hosts its first home playoff
series since 1980 when it meets Minnesota-Duluth the same team it played 12
years ago. CC swept the 'Dogs in Duluth two weeks ago.

 HEDICAN STILL PONDERING FUTURE

Bret Hedican who took a year off from SCSU to play with Team USA in the
Olympics is likely to return to the Husky program next fall. The contracts
offerred by the St Louis Blues have not been up to his expectations. If he
plays for SCSU next year he has said that he'll consider trying out for the
 U.S. Olympic team in 1994.
