No, the MVP was Providence goalie Chris Terreri. He made 62 saves in
the triple-ot semifinal win over BC, an NCAA game record, and held RPI
to 2 goals in the championship game. He made a total of 185 saves in the
tourney, allowing just 10 goals for a GAA of ~2.30, a save pct. of .949.
It was the 8th time a player not on the winning team won the MVP, but
the first seven all happened before 1961, so he is the only player to
do it in the last 31 years.

The remarkable thing is that two weeks earlier, Terreri had made 65 saves
in backstopping Providence to a 2-1 win over BC in the first Hockey East
Championship Game...in double overtime.

That year Puppa was 30-1-1, 2.56, 0.901 and wasn't named All-America
because of Terreri. In his two years at RPI, Puppa was 54-7-1, 2.70.

Of course Octopus Terreri is starring at New Jersey nowadays.
