On Monday August 22nd beginning at 5am there will be a power interruption
to our network equipment housed at the University of Maine Augusta campus
in order to allow required HVAC service to be conducted.  The outage is
planned to last approximately 8 hours.  The affected equipment is on
battery backup, and will be moved to generator power at the start of the
outage and back to commercial power at the end of the outage.  *Barring
unforeseen complications, no outage of services is expected.*  However,
should circumstances result in this equipment losing power, the following
services will be impacted:

   - UMA campus - loss of Internet and local network access and phones
   campus-wide
   - Capitol Area Tech Center - loss of Internet service
   - MPBN - loss of emergency communication link to State
   - State of Maine - loss of Internet service

In addition to the above, the loss of the equipment would cause a temporary
disruption for other users as traffic reroutes to alternate paths, however
such issues would be brief and may not be noticeable in many cases.

Again, all possible steps will be taken to assure that power to the
equipment is maintained, and as such no outage is expected.  However we
wanted to make sure everyone who is potentially at risk if complications
arise was alerted.
