MICHIGAN TECH'S CHRIS CONNER NAMED WCHA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

HOUGHTON, Mich. -- Chris Conner of the Michigan Tech men's ice hockey
team has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie
of the Week it was announced today.

The 5-8, 175-pounder scored a game-winning goal, assisted on another,
had six shots on goal, and earned a +3 plus/minus rating in Michigan
Tech's 4-2 and 3-1 victories over Alaska Anchorage last weekend.

His game-winning tally last Saturday evening enabled the Huskies to
better their conference point total of a year ago (11 points in
2002-03 to 10 in 2001-02), with 12 league games yet to play.

The WCHA's third highest-scoring rookie in 2002-03 with nine goals,
15 assists and 24 points in 24 games played, Conner is averaging a
point per game in his first collegiate season. He is also tied for
fifth nationally in scoring among first-year players and was named to
the Great Lakes Invitational All-Tournament Team back on Dec. 29.

Conner earned WCHA Rookie of the Week laurels for the second time this year.

Michigan Tech hosts St. Cloud State Friday (Jan. 31) and Saturday
(Feb. 1) at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Opening faceoff is set
for 7:05 p.m. each night.
