What to do in Buffalo??? Depends on your interests (I gather eating/drinking is high on the hockey-l'ers list), so here's a couple of possibilities:

1) Friday nite head for the Anchor Bar. The birthplace of Wings, and some great jazz music starting about 10:00 (so go around 9:00 to get a table).

2) Want to sample more wings (and have a car)? Go to Duff's, corner of Sheridan and Millersport in Amherst. Be warned: when they say "hot" is "very, very hot" they mean it!! Or ask any local "where's the best wings?" and go where they tell you. Wings and pizza are considered gourmet fare in this town.

3) Feel like partying? Head for Chippewa Street downtown (just off the rail line). Lots of niteclubs, lots of people on the street.

4) Just up from Chippewa is the Theater District, several playhouses and the architecturally-classic Shea's Theater. Also a movie house there. Theater district is on the rail line.

5) Elmwood Avenue is loaded with shops, restaurants and bars. Lively enough, especially on weekends. Could cab it from downtown, or drive. Not close to the rail.

6) Any hockey-l art-lovers? Albright-Knox Museum is a world-class center for modern art. An incredible collection, worth a couple of hours at least.

7) Want to do something "different"? Take your car to Forest Lawn Cemetery (near Canisius College) and wander the grounds. Some incredible Victorian and post-Victorian sculptures with fascinating tales behind them. It's not unusual for a bride & groom to go to Forest Lawn on their wedding day for photos....

8) Niagara Falls is cool -- but more so from the Canadian side than the American side. Given the war situation, can't tell how difficult crossing the border may be. There is a casino on each side (Seneca Indian casino on the NY side); for what it's worth, the Canadian casino has a non-smoking floor...

enjoy! ...Steve Roth
