It's marginally doable. Google Maps says 2:34 from Syracuse Amtrak to 
Cheel Arena, so you should arrive midway through the first period. 
(That assumes, of course, that Amtrak runs on time and that your 
favorite auto rental agency has your car warmed up and ready to go.) 
You're not going to run into an awful lot of traffic at that time of day.
