This type of attitude is short sighted.  They *will* pay for it when
alternatives come.  If one is grudingly paying an overpriced amount as
soon as the alternative comes the customer vanishes.  If, as happens in
sports, loyalty and affiliation result, when the alternative comes the
customer (fan) stays.  Loyalty and affiliation are more likely when a
person does not feel exploited.
