*What is happening?*
  US:IT Staff will be performing maintenance on the UMS Single Sign-On system
during the next several maintenance periods:

   - Sunday, December 15th, from 5 a.m. - 6 a.m.
   - Wednesday, December 18th, from 5 a.m. - 6 a.m.
   - Sunday, December 22nd, from 5 a.m. - 5 a.m.

  The actual downtime during each of these maintenance windows is expected
to be less than 5 minutes, with the remainder of the time being reserved
for testing and verification to ensure that the changes is successful.

   During this work, there may be issues logging into Blackboard, GMail,
MaineStreet, MyCampus Portal, Box, Zoom, and other services that utilize
the UMS Single Sign-On service.

   Existing sessions to applications should not be disrupted.

   If you receive an error message, you should wait a few minutes and try
your request again.

*Why is it necessary?*

  US:IT is applying configuration changes to the UMS Single Sign-On system
to provide support the new BrightSpace LMS and ensure that the service
remains responsive and stable under the increased activity expected as the
Brightspace LMS and MaineStreet enhancement projects move towards their
next milestones.
