Maine Women to Meet Providence in ECAC Quarterfinal

The UMaine women's ice hockey team will travel to Providence, R.I. this
weekend to meet Providence College in a single-game ECAC East quarterfinal.
The Black Bears (16-14-4, 8-10-3) meet the Friars (17-13-4, 11-7-3) this
Saturday, March 9, for a 2:00 p.m. matchup at Schneider Arena in Providence.

Maine will look for its first victory over PC this season, as Providence won
two out of the three meetings during the 2001-02 campaign. The third contest
resulted in a 2-2 tie.

Providence, which finished in fourth place in the ECAC East, missed an
opportunity to move into third place as it dropped its final regular season
game to Boston College. Maine held on to the fifth spot in the league with a
win and a tie at UConn last weekend.

The top four seeds in the league host quarterfinal games, with the winners
advancing to the ECAC East Championship Tournament to be held at the
University of Connecticut March 15-16.
