January is a tough time for our campus. During the semester break we are busy with orientations/staff days/scheduling students who dragged their feet/etc. It is rare that all of us can attend even though the desire is there. The dates this year are during our first week back, even worse than during the break. This year, none of us can attend.

Just an FYI on these dates: By moving the conference one week later than was typical in previous years, it conflicts with our campus faculty and staff training days, and makes it more difficult for our program to participate fully. I wonder if other programs find this is so or not.

I have new staff that would be interested in such a topic for the pre-conference.

Subject: MEEOA Possible Pre-Conference

Hello MEEOA Membership!

As Terri and I move forward in planning the 2018 MEEOA Conference, we wanted to reach out to all of you in order to gather interest in a pre-conference workshop. We had heard in the past year that members would like to have an On-Course training optional as a pre-conference at MEEOA.

As of right now, a 1-day workshop could run that “ introduces educators to learner-centered strategies that empower students to become active, responsible learners; additionally, this workshop provides an opportunity for participants to determine how they will use these strategies in their educational roles with students.”-OnCourse

If you are interested in this training, please let me know ASAP so I can move forward with scheduling the event. There may be a charge for the event of approximately $65-$110 per person, depending on the number of individuals interested.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from interested members!

Sam
