It certainly was a Husky night! Especially for the dogs of Northeastern as
they defeated the UConn variety of Husky 5-2 at Matthews arena tonight.

The first period was scoreless but that changed at 0:32 of the 2nd as NU
scored on a carryover power play. Jason Guerriero got the goal from Yale  Lewis.
Four minutes later NU scored again on a shot by Steve Birnstill helped by
Brian Swiniarski and Jared Mudryk at 4:22. Sixteen seconds later NU was up 3-0
with the eventual game winner scored by Josh Robertson assisted by Brian Esner
and Jon Awe. NU scored again at 16:04 from Birnstill and Swiniarski. JR
Corkery  scored for UConn at 18:04 from Cole Koidahl. The period ended 4-1 NU.

Each side sored one goal in the third. First for NU @1:31 by Guerriero his
second of the night with assists to Mike Morris and Joe Santilli. Tim Olsen of
UConn closed out the night's scoring on  a 5x3 power play at 17:43.

Saves, 18+13+8=39 for Brad Smith of UConn; 5+8+7=20 for Keni Gibson of NU.
UConn was 1 for 8 on the power play; NU 1 for 6.

UConn was penalized 6 times for 12 minutes; NU 8 for 16.

UConn is now 1-4-1 overall and NU 3-3-1. NU has their first conference game
Friday next (12th) when Maine visits. They will have a stretch of 4 Hokey
East games in 8 days.
