Dear Michael,
Lattimore is the most literal, and he also retains Homer's iambic hexameter,
which I find clunky in English.  Still, the translation is almost word-for-word
what is in the Greek.  Personally, I find both Fagles and Fitzgerald more
interesting and beautiful, though there are some passages in Fitzgerald that
are unclear.
