With regard to 'journalists in general,' if mine are among the comments
you have in mind, I recant.   I do see that in one of my posts a few days
ago, I used 'journalist' in an unqualified way.  This was from careless,
rapid writing, not from any conscious wish to denigrate a profession.
 
And with regard to some recent replies to Bill Wagner's posts in the
last thread, isn't some of the name-calling uncalled for?  I disagree
with a lot of what he has said, including that 'puppet lapdog' remark,
but Pound, after all, is dead, and his reputation has frequently been
debated in strong language on this list.   The debaters, though, I
think could make an effort to be a little more civil toward one another.
To call someone a dog for expressing a negative view of Pound is
all too reminiscent of Pound at his worst.  And I am one of those who
believes that he was usually not at his worst, often quite far above
that level.
