* Almost 100 students at URock are still missing various immunizations.
This is not the University System being picky; rather, it's Maine State
Law. As a result, if you do NOT get immunized, you will not be able to
register for the spring semester. If you are missing shots, then you
are probably receiving a lot of University mail right now. This is
serious. URock is trying to arrange another "Immunization Clinic" at
our center to help you get the vaccines you need at the most affordable
rate. We may be able to secure some funding to help you. Please stay
tuned for information about the clinic. Please let the front office
staff know if you are interested in the clinic to help with our
planning.

* Tomorrow, Friday, October 17th at 7:00PM is Movie and Discussion
Night featuring the film, "Why We Fight". Join the students of the
course, "Science, Technology & Ethics" along with instructor, Bob Baker,
for an inspiring look at the United States' long involvement in military
conflict.

* It's time to sign up for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ® Workshop!
This is a fun and enlightening personal and career development activity.
Susan Barnard from the Maine Career Center will hold a workshop on
Monday, November 17, from 1:00 - 4:00PM to review the results of your
questionnaire. When you think about successful and satisfying careers
you need to understand yourself first. You need to know how you can
perform best at the workplace. One of the key factors in career
development is job satisfaction. Job satisfaction is high when the job
engages your strongest personal qualities. The MBTI is a great tool to
help you make some important career decisions. Sign up for the workshop
at the front desk. When you sign on, you will be given the MBTI
questionnaire to complete. There are no wrong answers! Rather, it is
an indicator of your preferences. Return the questionnaire to URock by
Monday, November 12th and then enjoy learning all about your personality
at the workshop on the 19th.

* Pre-registration for the spring semester will begin in mid-November.
We expect to have preliminary course schedules available in the next
week. We encourage you all to become familiar with Maine Street and its
"self-service" functions. Also, November is a good time to set up an
advising appointment. Planning ahead will help you get into the classes
you want.

* The URock Student Association will help interested students attend
some of sessions of the Maine Literary Festival in Camden on November 7,
8 & 9. This is a world class program right in our own back yard. Check
out the details at their web site: www.maineliteraryfestival.com If
you are interested, please contact URock's SA President, Karen Stanley
at 380-3307 for help with tickets.

* VOTE! The next general election is Tuesday, November 4th. However,
all towns and cities in Maine are ready NOW for "Early Voting". You can
vote now during regular office hours. This is not absentee; rather, you
just show up and vote on the spot. So, avoid long lines, car troubles
or bad weather and vote early. If you still need to register to vote, we
have voter registration cards in the lobby.

That' it! -
