P.S. At the Women's basketball game earlier today, Maine honored over
> 160 scholar athletes in an impressive ceremony at half-time. Of
> particular note to Maine hockey fans: Frank Doyle received a big
> hug from Nonni Daly at centercourt as this year's Dean Smith Award
> winner as the premiere male scholar athlete at Maine.
> Congratulations, Frank!

Was also pleased to hug the women's recipient, Rebecca Ouellet (all league
and all New England All Star) of the Field Hockey team. I know her well
from co-advising the All Maine Women and she is as impressive a person as is
Frank.

A 3.6 cum GPA in Mechanical Engineering, she spent last summer working at
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, writing engineering specs for guided missile
systems on US submarines. Her work has received approval from the Navy
Department and is used at sub installations world wide.

I wonder how many D-I schools can say that over half of their athletes are
Scholar-Athletes with as rigorous a standard as is applied at Maine?
