Maine sweeps Boston College out of the Hockey East playoffs tonight with a
4-2 win on the heels of the 7-3 win Thursday night. BC's season is most
likely over, while Maine advances to the Hockey East semifinals on Friday in
Boston. These wins should bolster Maine's NCAA tournament chances.

Chris Heisten scored his second goal of the season in as many nights. Lucas
Lawson netted a goal with the goalie out to tie a Maine record with goals in
8 consecutive games.

Tony Voce had both goals for BC, including a short-handed goal with under
two minutes to go. Voce would have his season ended a little earlier than
his teammates when he was given a misconduct penalty. Maine radio said he
was also thrown out. Apparently he must have said something to referee
Conrad Hache (clearly one of the worst referee's in Hockey East in the games
I've seen in person this year -- not including this game). Hache, who had
called one penalty all game whistled BC assistant captain Dolinar for
roughing with about two minutes to go. The Maine radio guys did not see the
play, but I *HOPE* it was a deserving call.

Regardless, my feeling is that while Voce should have shown more poise,
Hache could have given him a break. At this point, BC is looking at the end
of their season and you just called a penalty on them. You have to show a
little patience and understand that BC players and coaches will be
frustrated.

BC and Maine have not always been the most heated of rivalries, but they
have played in some big games, with each team having their turn (though it
feels like BC has had *more* turns). This series was important for Maine's
confidence and I think will be better having played BC in the quarterfinals.
