"the left has lost its bearings" ....

whenever I see that phrase dribbling down
over a well-fed lower lip, I immediately
get the translation:

"the left has not moved far enough to the right"

Further Note:  equating criticism of the government
of Israel with "anti-semitism" has been very convenient
for some; but it does tend close off reasoned discussion
