ARMY TO MAKE MAAC DEBUT FRIDAY NIGHT AT IONA

EDISON, NJ - The newest member of the MAAC Hockey League, Army (0-0-0,
0-0-0), makes its debut on Friday night as the Black Knights travel to New
Rochelle to take on Iona (0-1-1, 0-1-1) at Skate Nation Arena at 7:30.  Army
is coming off a 6-3 exhibition victory over Seneca last Friday night while
the Gaels will be looking for their first victory of the season after going
0-1-1 against Quinnipiac (1-0-1, 1-0-1) last weekend.  Army went 1-1 against
Iona in the 1999-00 season and have an all-time record of 20-1-1 against the
Gaels.  Army travels to upstate New York on Saturday night to battle ECAC
member Union at 7:00.

Fairfield (0-0-0, 0-0-0) and Bentley (0-0-0, 0-0-0) open their seasons
playing at the fifth annual Quinnipiac Cup at the Northford Ice Pavilion in
Northford, Connecticut.  Jim Hunt will make his collegiate coaching debut as
the Stags face-off against Air Force at 4:00 on Friday.  The Falcons will be
playing the host institution, Quinnipiac, at 7:00 on Friday.  Last year, the
Braves won all five games against Bentley.

Connecticut (0-1-0, 0-0-0), the defending MAAC Champions, play at Hockey
East opponent Merrimack at 7:00 on Friday and Saturday night.  The Huskies
went 0-2 against Hockey East opponents last year.

After four exhibition games, Canisius (0-0-0, 0-0-0) opens its regular
season with two games at Wayne State on Friday and Saturday night at 7:00.
The Ice Griffs began last season with two games at home against the Tartars
going 1-0-1.

Holy Cross (0-0-0, 0-0-0) travels to Orono, Maine this weekend to take part
in the Black Bear Classic where they could possibly play two ranked teams.
The Crusaders battle #14 St. Lawrence on Friday at 4:00 and clash with
either #8 Maine or the US Under 18 team at 4:00 or 7:00 on Saturday.

American International (0-2-0, 0-0-0) entertains Sacred Heart (0-1-0, 0-0-0)
at the Olympia Ice Center in a non-conference match at 7:00 on Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets look to rebound after losing twice to Air Force last
weekend while the Pioneers are coming off an 8-2 loss to Colgate.
 
Finally, Mercyhurst (0-0-0, 0-0-0) travels to Clarkson on Saturday evening for a games against the Golden Nights.  The Lakers, a semi-finalist in their inagural MAAC season in 1999-2000, swept two exhibition games last weekend from Brock University 7-3 and 5-3.
