https://lists.maine.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=JBS-L;7e5aab23.1306
Hi Josselyn Members - According to the revisions to our bylaws enacted at the Spring Meeting, the Treasurer needs to secure an informal review of the prior year's accounts before presenting the financial statement at the annual meeting. A JBS member familiar with spreadsheets and budget reports is more than qualified to review the statement. Would one or more of you be willing to go over the accounting ledgers during the last week of June? I can either mail copies to you or meet somewhere for a few hours. [...]

Hi Rick-
I am a lurker on the JBS list and not a JBS member, but was interested
in finding out more about the plant survey trip, although I may have
another commitment that I can't change. What type of distances/
elevation change are involved in the route? I have not been hiking as
much as I'd like (and backpacking much longer ago...) and this looks
enticing. RIck.. we have had some success with cover and smother. Best material from our own experience is old sheet metal roofing, especially if the PI is a sunny area. I vaguely recall reading something about it can be dug up and removed
manually (actually, use gloves) but is very dependent on timing, when the
plant is dormant. The oil that is the irritant isn't produced all year
long.

The list of how not to remove poison ivy is probably much longer than the
list of how to do it safely. For sure, don't burn it!!! I've personally
seen the results on people and pets of burning poison ivy, when a friend did
such on a big pile of brush, not realizing it has poison ivy amongst it.
Keith Williams
